She died at the Memorial Hospital in Towanda,following a brief illness.
Eunice was a member of the United Methodist Church of North Ghent and a 1942 graduate of Ulster High School. She was a former writer of the "A Slice of Life" columns in The Daily Review, where she talked about her life growing up. She enjoyed painting, making doll houses, gardening and writing. She also loved genealogy, reading and playing the piano. Eunice was a veteran of WWII, having served with the Woman's Army Corps as a medical corpsman.
She was predeceased by her husband Earl Merrill, her son Earl R. Merrill, her sister Norma Petry and her brother Roland Richards.
Eunice was survived by: her children, Katherine and Ted Polasky of Waverly, N.Y.; Eunice and Gary Braund of Troy, Pa.; Sharon and Pat Campbell of Athens, Pa.; Keith and Valerie Merrill of Athens, Pa.; Melvin Merrill of Athens, Pa.; and Colin and Pat Merrill of Ulster, Pa.; her 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; her two sisters, Eleanor Gibbs of Ulster, Pa.; and Vivian Bennett of Athens, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
