Elizabeth Mary Early Hale, 90, of Galax, Va., passed away Friday, April 8, 2005 at her residence. She was born in Hillsville to the late Robert Thornton Early and Hallie Eunice Wilkinson Early. She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Richard Scott Hale of the home; a twin sister, Mrs. Ruth Calfee of Fallbranch, Tennessee; plus several nieces and nephews; and her special caregivers, Sheila Jones and Tracpha Chaffman, both of Galax. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mrs. Ida May Blankenship. She was a retired teacher of 42 years, seven years at Hillsville Elementary and 35 years at Galax Elementary. She was a graduate of Radford College, where she earned a BS degree in education. Elizabeth Hale was a proud member of several heritage societies, including National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and Colonial Dames XVII Cenuty.
