Two Former Sherman County Residents Dead
Word has been received from Grand Junction that two former Sherman County citizens had passed away.
[Info about P. C. Cording (error: S C Cording - 98985108)]
The other Sherman County citizen in none other than M. H. Mead whose life is closely associated with the early history of Sherman County. He passed away about two [sic] months ago. Word to that effect was brought back last week by Joe Cording of Litchfield who was at Grand Junction attending his father's funeral.
Mr. Mead held many positions of trust in Loup City and Sherman County. He was County Superintendent of this County in the early days, and also City Superintendent of the Loup City schools and a number of our business men were students of Mr. Mead. Mr. Mead was also Postmaster of Loup City for a number of years and then later was abstractor [sic] and made up the abstract books which R. H. Mathew purchased later. He was a fine educator and a man well posted on educational matters. He left Loup City about twenty years ago locating at Fallon Idaho and later returned to Grand Junction where he resided up to the time of his death.
The Times regrets that we may not (have) been able to publish an obituary of these two prominent citizens who helped in the early history of the County.
