RADFORD - Charles Matthew Bess, 97 of Radford, passed away Thursday, November 4,
2004 at the New River Valley Medical Center. He was a retired public school
custodian. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Ina Delong Fox Bess
and three daughters, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Survivors include six daughters, Claudine Humphries of Indianapolis, Ind., Wanda
June Dick of Albany, KY, Lola Hedge and Janice Wirt, both of Radford, Eleanor
Kelley of Spotsylvania, and Patricia Yenke of Plainfield, Ind.; two sons, Ted W.
Bess of Radford, and Rondy Hugh Bess of Martinsville, Ind.; 24 grandchildren, 33
great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be
held Sunday, November 7, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in
Radford with Rev. James M. Kelley, Rev. Jonathan Kelley and Rev. Jack Carls
officiating. Funeral services will also be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the
Ramp Pentecostal Holiness Church in Ramp, WV with Rev. Felix Baker officiating.
Interment will follow in the Richmond Cemetery in Ramp, WV. Flowers would be
appreciated but due to his request, in lieu of flowers please make contributions
to the Ramp Pentecostal Holiness Church, Box 120, Sandstone, WV 25985. The
family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the
Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
