Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Mon., Oct. 15, for Ruby Violet Beto, 97, Madison, who died on Oct. 9, 2012, at her daughter's home in Eagan, Minn. The Rev. Constanze Hagmaier will officiate in Trinity Lutheran Church at Madison. Burial will be in Lake Madison Lutheran Cemetery, Rutland.
The family will be present from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday at the Ellsworth Funeral Home.
Ruby Volby was born on July 24, 1915, near Rutland to Theodore and Bertina (Brorby) Volby. She graduated from Rutland High School in 1932 and from South Dakota State College in 1936, majoring in home economics education. She taught school at Gregory and married Arthur Beto on Sept. 27, 1942, at Lake Madison Lutheran Church. She then taught school at Volga, Dell Rapids, Colton, Chester, General Beadle High School and Flandreau Indian School.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Women of the ELCA, Delta Kappa Gamma, Church Women United, Red Cross, Sons of Norway, Jane Austen Society and Entre Nous Study Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty (Mickiel) Fedde of Eagan, Minn.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur in 1983; one son, Ronald in 1994; and one sister, Margaret Walker.
