CLEMENS WILLIAM RUSSELL Passed away December 18, after a valiant battle with brain cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Hulda Clemens and brothers, Samuel and Raymond.

Bill was born in San Diego, Calif., February 5, 1931. He lived in San Diego all his early years, attending local schools and graduating from San Diego High School in 1947. After graduation he worked for the whitney Department Store, Safeway, and Century Emerson. In 1962, he went to work for R.N. Holmer Co.

In 1974, Bill started his own business, Carpet Cushion Co. He was highly respected and admired by his business associates and made many lifelong friends in the industry. After retirement, Bill and his wife of 29 years, Georgina, traveled extensively through Mexico, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Some of their favorites were trips on the various rivers of the world.

Bill was much loved by his family. He was kind and generous, giving of his time and affection to all his children and grandchildren. He had many longtime friends, dating from childhood, and they and their children were considered extended family.

He will be painfully missed by his wife Georgina, his two daughters, Catherine Longwell and Kristine Irving, as well as his wife's three children: Roger Perdomo, Juliet Thompson, and Roberta Arnold, whom he loved as his own. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Heidi Hayes, Kevin Thompson, Tammie Thompson, Dannie Lynn Perdomo, and Ali Arnold.

A memorial to his life will be held December 27, 11 a.m., at the El Cajon Cemetery. Donations are suggested to San Diego Hospice. Published in San Diego Union-Tribune on December 22, 2002
