Funeral services for Milton Stallcop, age 87, of Milaca, will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 11 AM at Milaca United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Woo Jae Im officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will follow at Borgholm Cemetery near Bock. Military honors will be provided by Hansen-Hayes American Legion Post #178 and Siemer-Hakes VFW Post #10794. Casketbearers will include Walter Young, Jerry Brastad, Robert Hoffman, Peter Rutherford, Sheldon Carlson and Lyle Reardon. Milton Wallace Stallcop was born December 13, 1923 in Milaca, MN to Clifford and Anna (Hunt) Stallcop. He grew up and attended school near Milaca. From 1944 to 1946, Milton was in the US Army serving during WWII in Okinawa. On August 13, 1949, he was united in marriage to Lillian Young at the family farm. To this union three children were born, Gordon, Ruthanne and Michael. In 1953, they moved to Lillians family farm in Hayland Township where they made their permanent home. In 1986, his son, Michael, became Miltons partner on the farm and Michael gradually took over the farming operation. Milton was a member on the Milaca United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He died on Monday, May 9, 2011 in Pierz, MN. He is survived by his daughter, Ruthanne (Jerry) Metz of Idaho Springs, CO; sons, Michael (Marcy) of Milaca; two grandchildren; brother, Delos (Laura) Stallcop of Zimmerman; sister, Ruby (Norton) Erickson of Harris; daughter-in-law, Shelly Stallcop of Cotton, MN; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lillian; son, Gordon; brother, Lester and sister, Grace.
