Son of Alexander Lyle and Margaret Wallace, married Margaret Adam. He was Chaplain for the Union Army during the Civil War and served as Pastor for churches in Duxbury Massachusetts, Troy Ohio, Seneca Falls New York, Bay City Michigan, and several others. He was also an Author of a book about his experience as an Army Chaplain called "Lights and Shadows of Army Life". He had 10 children with his wife Margaret.
