Married John in 1887 and he died in 1899. They only had eleven or twelve years together and had the three daughters: Cora M. born in Nov. 1888 (married Fountain F. Bloomer in 1909 and on the 1910 census they had a son one month of age); Viola B. born in Sept. 1890; and Cordelia born in May 1992 (married William H. Barron in 1912).

Clarinda was the daughter of Samuel Acton and Nancy Jane Griffin who married 16 Jan. 1859.

Clarinda had at least ten siblings. In age order they were; Armilda, Mary, Sara A., Elizabeth, James M.,John, Andy, George, Samuel J., and Thomas J. Note: James M. and Clarinda were both age one on the 1870 census and twelve on the 1899 census. There could have been additional children after the 1880 census.

The date of death of Clarinda was not established. She was head of the household on the 1900 Pulaski Co. census. When the cemetery was inventoried and the Pulaski Co. Cemetery Book, Vol. 2 published in 1977 her year of birth was listed but not the year of death. Therefore, she died between the dates the 1900 and 1910 census wrre taken.

Gravesite Details

Alice _______ has e-mailed me saying that I erred in assumptions about Clarinda. I could not find her death thinking she died in KY but she was living with her daughter Cordelia in Wayne Co. Michigan on the 1940 census. She probably died there.
