Twin brother of George Rountree; the two were brothers of Nancy Rountree Dekle.
-----------------------------------------------------
"Joshua and George were twin brothers. They walked here (Emanuel Co) from North Carolina (abt 1800) seeking a new country where they might locate and build their fortunes....... men of less courage would have turned back long before they came to this wilderness, but these men had a steady purpose; they had strength and courage, and when they came to Emanuel County, they felt that they could find nothing better, and like the patriarchs of old, they struck camp and said "here we stay".

It is said that they were so much alike that if they were dressed alike it was difficult for their wives to tell them apart. They loved each other very much, and the first one up in the morning would go out and holler, and if it was calm, the other would hear and answer him. They were members of the old Canoochee Church, which stood then near the cross road, north of the Bartley Sconyers place . It was moved to its present location in 1866.

Joshua married Zilphia Durden and George married Lavinia Neal. They reared families of ten children each."

Above excerpt from the book, "Memories" by Elder Robert Henry Barwick.
