Former Duncan resident Ruby Lee Chambers, 96, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012 in Boyd, Texas. Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 18th in Duncan Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating, under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.

Ruby was born September 16, 1916 in Paris, Texas, the daughter of Blake C. and Margaret E. Taylor Freeland. She married George M. Chambers on May 6, 1939 in Frederick, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death March 31, 1993. She worked as a Department Manager in the Children's Department at Montgomery Wards in Duncan before her retirement and was member of New Hope Baptist Church West.

She is survived by three daughters, Treva J. Roglin and husband, Robert of Boyd, TX, Leta Kay Landrum and husband, Daniel of Arlington, TX, Janet Karlas Fields and husband, Larry of Okmulgee, OK; one brother, Kenneth W. Chambers and wife, Mary of Denton, TX; one sister, Wilma J. Wagner, of Vernon, TX; nine grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Blake and Margaret, her husband, George, four brothers, and two sisters.
