Robert "Coach" Shea, 77, of Marlborough died Saturday, October 13, 2012 at UMass/Memorial Hospital, Worcester, Ma.

He leaves his wife of 56 years, Patricia A. (Levesque) Shea.

His children: Michael Shea and his wife Debra; James Shea and his wife Maureen; Janet Delano and her partner Sue Welch; Brenda Shea; Elaine Ritter and her husband David.

He also leaves his grandchildren: Heather, Dillon, Jennifer, Jonica, Jody, Alicia, Zachary and Evan; his great grandchildren: Jaiden and Joely.

Born in Waltham, he was the son of the late Edmund J. and Dora (White) Shea.

He graduated from Waltham High School, Class of 1955.

He worked for Data General in Southborough for 9 years, retiring in 1988.

He had also been a custodian at Marlborough High School and taught drafting at Assabet Valley Vocational High School Adult Education.

He coached baseball in the Pony League for many years.

Bob was a pilot, flying his own plane out of Marlborough Airport. He was an avid outdoors man. He enjoyed "mystery rides" in his car and plane.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Marlborough; Sons of the American Legion Post 132, Marlborough, where he was a bartender; Bolton Street Association of Marlborough; the Knights of Columbus in Waltham; and Aircraft Owner and Pilot Association of USA.

The funeral will be held Friday at 8a.m., October 19, 2012, from the John P. Rowe Funeral Home Inc., 57 Main Street, Marlborough, Ma with a Mass at 9:00a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect Street, Marlborough, Ma.

Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Marlborough.

Calling hours at the Funeral Home are Thursday, October 18, 2012 from 4-8p.m.
