☆~ VETERAN, WORLD WAR II (1939-1945) ~☆

Edgar L. Scheer, of St. Paul, NE., died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln, NE. Edgar was born on Dec. 28, 1927, on a farm near Madison, NE., the son of Otto and Charlotte (Sauer) Scheer.

Edgar attended Madison (NE.) County rural schools and graduated from Madison (NE.) High School in 1945.

Edgar served in the United States Navy from Jan. 1946 until his honorable discharge in Nov. 1947. He returned to Madison County, NE. where he farmed and began working for the Soil Conservation Service.

Edgar was united in marriage to Jackie C. Kloppel on Jan. 18, 1953, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison, NE. He transferred to the Soil Conservation Service in St. Paul, NE. in 1962 where he worked as a technician and laid out plans for many local farmers to ready their farms for irrigation through the Farwell, NE. Irrigation District. Edgar loved farming and was still actively farming until his death. He was never afraid to work, having held a job since he was 12 years old.

Edgar was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 both of St. Paul, NE. He also was a longtime member of Farm Bureau, having held several offices and served on the St. Paul (NE.) Co-Op Elevator Board.

Edgar was always known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He loved going to the horse races and playing slot machines with his friends. He was also an avid fan and cheerleader for each of his grandchildren.

Edgar was preceded in death by: parents.

Edgar is survived by: wife, Jackie Scheer of St. Paul, NE.; sons and daughters-in-law, Dave and Deb Scheer of Lincoln, NE., Dan and Kelly Scheer and Tim and Amy Scheer, all of St. Paul, NE.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian Barnes and Mickey and Wayne Walkenhorst, all of Lincoln, NE. and Fawn and Carl Larsen of Chadron. NE.; brother and sister-in-law, Aaron and Darleen Scheer of Horseshoe Bend, AR.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery, St. Paul, NE. with graveside military honors by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 of St. Paul, NE.
