Jake was the eldest child of Enoch C. and Mary C. McKnight Blair. His siblings were Lewis, James, Absalom, Sally, Pratt, Nancy, Harrison, Margaret, Clearinda, Lillie, and Ben. He married Mary ELizabeth Tritt in Harlan County Kentucky in 1898. He was the father of 9 children; Maude, Sylvia, Cassie, Lester, Tinsey, Massie, Rissie, Verna and Oakley. Jake died from injuries as a result from being struck by a train.

Note: Jacob was the first person buried in this cemetery. His grave did not have a monument for over 90 years until one was erected in 2013.
