Rollin Rudolph Davenport, 86, of Green County, Ky., died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Ky. Son of the late James Chapman and Osley Moran Davenport, he was born in Green County on Dec. 18, 1919. He was a member of South Greensburg Baptist Church, a former laborer for Clark Casual, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Rod Lowe Post 124. He was married to Martha Peggy Elizabeth Judd Davenport on Oct. 13, 1945. She preceded him in death on Feb. 18, 2002. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bobby Joe and Marti Davenport of Mt. Washington, Ky., and Ricky Davenport of Bardstown, Ky.; a daughter, Patricia Davenport of Greensburg; two grandsons, James Davenport of Mt. Washington and Barry Davenport and his wife, Susan, of Bardstown; three great-grandchildren, Kayla Sparks of Summersville, Ky., Jordan Pinkston of Bardstown and Katerin Davenport of Shepherdsville, Ky.; a sister, Geraldine Hamilton of Campbellsville; and a brother, Mitchell Davenport of Illinois. Funeral was Wednesday, Oct. 11 at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. Bro. Wilburn Bonta officiated. Burial was in Davenport Cemetery. Pallbearers were Barry Davenport, Grady Dewitt, Chad Heath, J.W. Bennett, Max Hancock and Mike Mitchell. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Gideon Bible fund or Davenport Cemetery and can be made at the funeral home.
