Elbert Coleman Lewis, 44, of Memphis died about noon at his farm in Southwestern Madison County (60 Joe Lyon Rd @ Hatchie/Mercer, TN) following an accident.
Mr. Lewis is a Madison County native who has lived in Memphis about three years. He was Service Director of Fraser Laundry Systems in Memphis, a member of the East Park Baptist Church in Memphis, a pilot, a Mason and a 1949 graduate of Haywood County High School in Brownsville, TN.
Survivors include his widow, Barbara Ann Lyon Lewis of Memphis; sons, Joel Coleman Lewis (Barbara Melton Lewis) of Goldsboro, NC and Robert Lee Lewis of Memphis; a daughter, Sheryl Ann Lewis of Memphis; his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Coleman (Virginia Helen Anderson) Lewis of Jackson; and a sister, Mrs. Thomas (Virginia Ann) King of Kissimmee, FL.
Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday at the Main Street Chapel of George A. Smith & Sons with burial in the Maple Springs Baptist Church Cemetery near Mercer.
Pallbearers will be Floyd Qualls, Bill Cheatham, Harvey Lee Curlin, R. E. (Gene) Curlin, Jerry Esch and Norman Presson.
