Son of Benjamin Caldwell and Alva Eleanor Davies Atterberry. He graduated from Lombard College, now part of Knox College in Galesburg, Ill., in 1907. He changed the spelling of his last name to conform to the spelling of the first Atterbury who came to America in the sixteen hundreds. He became a Trustee of Lombard, and was in business in Galesburg until 1929, when he moved to Chicago. He married Dorsey L. Davisson of Atlanta on April 11, 1911. They had two children both linked below.
