On Tuesday the 11th inst., inexorable death received commission, in a sudden and unexpected manner, to summon into the world of Spirits, Mrs. Sarah Leavitt, the virtuous, and amiable comfort of the Rev. Jonathan Leavitt, of this town, in the 49th year of her age; and the Thursday following her remains were respectfully interred. When a sermon suitable to the occasion was by the Rev. John Emerson, from these words, Mark vii. 37 – “He hath done all things well.” –

She died suddenly as a consequence of taking wrong medicine
[according to her husband's biography published Biographical sketches of the Congregational pastors of New England by Emerson Davis (1798-1866) Volume: v.5 pg 238]
