Douglas Lee Ashby, 23, of 2601 North Joplin, was found dead Saturday, September 20, 1980, near Weir.
He was born June 10, 1957, in Wichita, and came to Pittsburg in 1969 from Marshal, Texas. He graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1975.
Mr. Ashby was a member of the Mormon Church.
He worked for the Russ Farnsworth Tank and Tower Company of Great Bend.
Survivors include his mother, Jeane Ashby of 2601 North Joplin; a sister and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Simpson of Coweta, Oklahoma.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Highland Park Cemetery with Bishop Ronald McKee officiating. The body is at the Brenner Chapel.
