Virginia Outland, 72, died peacefully at her home in Suffolk Jan. 26, 2003.
She was the daughter of the late James T. Holloman and Mary Holloman Davis. She was a devoted member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where she worked in several capacities.
Mrs. Outland is survived by her husband, J.C. Outland; daughters, Jennifer G. Outland, Joyce O. Ficare and husband Petro; son, John H. Outland and wife Sherry; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Wilmer C. Holloman and sister Elma Mae Long, both of Windsor, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Baptist Church by the Rev. Douglas W. Gibson, with burial in Meadowbrook Memeorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, VA 23439.
The family would like to thank all who have been there for Virginia and her family, and especially the members of Hospice. She loved unselfishly, always putting others before herself, and she was deeply loved by all those who were blessed to have known her. Her memory will always be cherished.
