Mary A. Helicke Baker, 91, of Washington, died Thursday, October 11, 2012, following a brief illness.

She was born February 28, 1921, in Washington, daughter of Albert and Frances Grobosky Helicke. Mrs. Baker grew up in the Tylerdale area of Washington. She was a graduate of Washington High School and attended Penn Commercial College in Washington.

During World War II, she worked at Neville Island Naval Shipyard.

She was then employed at Jessop Steel for 25 years, until her retirement.

On August 19, 1943, she married Robert C. Baker Jr., who died November 10, 1998.

She was a lifelong member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church.

Surviving are daughter Mary Elizabeth (Dennis) Zullo of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two grandsons, Dennis (Katie) Zullo of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Robert (Karen) Zullo of Chiloquin, Ore.; sister E. Jean Henderson of Washington; brother Albert Helicke of Langhorne; seven greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are sister Stella Wrubleski and four brothers, Joseph, Charles, Frank and Edward Helicke.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, Washington. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township.
