Mr. Pruitt was a native of Gibson City, Ill., and had lived in Tracy since 1936. He worked for Pacific Gas & Electric Co. for 43 years and was a field foreman. He graduated from Tracy High School in 1938. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, serving as a pilot in the South Pacific, and was awarded the Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a member of the Pacific Service Employees Association, and enjoyed hunting, fly fishing and spending time at his cabin in LaPorte.
He is survived by his wife, Betty "Elizabeth" Pruitt of Tracy; children, Carolyne Burley of Sacramento and Marilyne Dahl of Napa; mother, Marion Pruitt of Quincy; brother, Jim Pruitt of Oroville; sisters, Meredith Moody of Rohnert Park and Sandra Norton of Quincy; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Private burial at Tracy Public Cemetery. Hotchkiss Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
