MARTIN FREDRICK SOPCHAK, 73, went to be with our Lord on Good Friday, April 2, 2010, after a long battle with cancer. He was born August 13, 1936 in Richmond, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife of 54+ years, Dorothy Kominczak Sopchak, son, Ronald Sopchak, daughters: Laureen Theiss and husband Van, Karen Van Marter and husband Richard Dorris, Tina Spitzenberger and husband Howard; grandchildren: Kristi Sopchak, Wesley Sopchak and Travis Sopchak, Stephanie Collier and husband Aaron, Kevin Theiss, Nathan Theiss and fiancée Hayley Hinson, Patrick Sopchak and wife Megan, Joel Sopchak and wife Melissa, Clinton Sopchak, Ryan Van Marter, and Payton Dorris; and great-granddaughter Dakota Sopchak. Martin is also survived by his sister Clara Gregory. He is preceded in death by his parents Anton and Josephine Sopchak, 11 siblings, and son, Carl Sopchak. Martin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. His family meant the world to him and he will be dearly missed. He was raised on a farm in Richmond/Rosenberg area before moving to Houston then Spring to pursue a life-long career in plumbing, where he started Sopchak Plumbing until he retired in 1990. He loved spending time with his family, traveling, camping, hunting, and fishing. Martin fought his cancer with the same strength in which he lived his life-he gave it everything he had. The family would like to invite friends for a visitation on Monday, April 5, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, TX, 77060.
