Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish, LA—9 August 2011

Alford, Farrell O.—A resident of Baton Rouge and a retired boilermaker, he departed this life on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice after a lengthy illness. He was 73 and a native of Mount Hermon.

Survived by his wife of 43 years, Mildred Alford; stepchildren, Mickey Clydelia Douglas, of Baton Rouge, and retired Col. John R. Douglas and wife Cheryl, of Bogalusa; stepgranddaughter and her family, Robyn Stephens, husband Buddy and their children, Lauren, Julianna and Rebekah, all of Meridian, Miss.; and stepgrandson, Billy Douglas, wife Rubby and their daughter, Catherine, of Walker; sister, Carol Wade, of Baker; and special niece, Janet Blount and husband Craig, of Zachary; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtis and Seth Alford; and two brothers, Kenneth and Walter Alford.

He was an active member of Sherwood Baptist Church, Baton Rouge. Mr. Alford served in the U.S. Army, was a longtime member of the American Legion and an avid LSU Tiger fan.

Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Monday, Aug. 8, was from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by Dr. David Womack, of Sherwood Baptist Church. The pallbearers will be Roy Alford, Craig Blount, Billy Douglas, Bobby Wade, and Jeff Wade.
