Was married to Rev. Marion Thomas Martin on December 2, 1908 in Butler, Bates Co., MO. He was the pastor of Christian Union Church in Excelsior Springs in Clay county. They had two children: Marion Thomas and Ramona Violet. Leta was widowed young when her husband died of pneumonia at the age of 31. She later married Raymond F. Shedd.
Sadly, they died together from carbon monoxide poisoning when a butane stove was accidentally left on.
