Wayne LeRoy Cross of Sherwood, age 86, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012.He was born June 23, 1926 in Sherwood to Washington Irving and Lauretta (Hannah) Cross. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he married Betty Marie Yeomans on September 23, 1952 and she preceded him in death. On March 27, 1970 he married Marjorie Dillon who also preceded him in death. Wayne retired from Republic Roller after many years of service. He was a member of Sherwood Free Methodist Church and pursued many interests and hobbies throughout his lifetime which included dancing, bowling, cutting and working with wood, playing cards, fishing and hunting. Wayne also enjoyed countless hours of fun with his friends and family. Wayne is survived by children H. Thomas (Robin) Smith, Larry (Kathy) Cross, Terry (Rick) Chard, Susan (Jim) Platt, Mike (Sharon) Cross and Sherry (Kevin) Langwell; his girlfriend Keitha Post; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and many family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his two wives Betty Marie and Marjorie; a son Kevin Wayne Cross; parents Irving and Lauretta Cross; brothers Albert and Arthur Cross; and sisters Charlotte Oxenrider and Esther Siler. Visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Sherwood Free Methodist Church. Funeral Services 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 12th at the Sherwood Free Methodist Church with Pastor Daryl Dexter officiating. Interment Sherwood Cemetery.
