Erma Josephine Parsons, 86 of Arkansas City, KS died Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at the Presbyterian Manor. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2012, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Pastor Babe Standerfer will officiate. Burial will follow in the Maple City Cemetery. Viewing will be 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
Erma was born January 1, 1926, to Dawson E. and Bessie F. (Foster) Donaldson in Maple City, Kansas. She was reared and educated in Maple City.
On October 10, 1942, she married Wasco Pappan. The couple made their home in Maple City, Silverdale, then Arkansas City. Wasco preceded her in death in 1974. Erma later married Raymond Parsons on May 13, 1977, in Arkansas City where the couple made their home. Raymond preceded her in death in 2002.
Erma worked as a dietician and nutritionist for the Winfield State Hospital until she retired in 1988 after 30 years of service. Erma enjoyed crocheting, crafting, and most of all, spending time with her family. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Jack Pappan and wife Sue; Don Pappan and wife Sherry all of Wichita, KS; daughter, Jeanette Massman of Lacey, WA; sister Mae McClaskey of Newkirk, OK; brother, Earl Donaldson and wife Marlene of Russell, KS; son in law Mike Loney of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Jodie Wall, Shawna Perry, Dawn Smith, Shelly Lewis, Chris Loney, Paul Pappan, Betsy Robinson, James Pappan, Tiffany Foust, Sue Ann Weible, Kyle Massman, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
Erma was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a brother Archie Donaldson, and a daughter Nina Loney.
