Robert was born on March 11, 1931 in Bushnell to Milford and Naomi Baughman Allen. He married Lila Jean Smith on August 10, 1956 in Bushnell.
He is survived by his wife, Lila Jean Smith Allen and his daughter, Melanie Mae Allen of Industry and his sister, Louise M. (Verle) Thompson of Adair.
He was preceded in death by a brother in infancy and a brother, Lyle M. Allen.
Robert was a life long resident of McDonough County. He was a proud farmer and it was his life passion. He aslo worked for Farmer's Elevator in Table Grove and Littleton Elevator in Littleton.
Robert liked people. He enjoyed talking with his many friends at Heartland and especially those who came to visit him there.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Reverend Ted Shirley officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb.
Memorials may be made to either Heartland Healthcare Center, Industry Fire Department or Harbor Lights Hospice.
