Reverend Dr. W.A. Robinson, 88, of Olney, died at 7:25 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2002, at Murphysboro Rehab & Care Center in Murphysboro.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney. There will also be visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Olney. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with Reverend Mark Myers officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Centralia.

Dr. Robinson was born on January 21, 1914, in Waverly, the son of Allen Murray and Grace (Lively) Robinson. He married Wanda Lee Corzine on July 26, 1936, at Demaree Methodist Church in Centralia by Wanda's father, Rev. C.F. Corzine. She survives.

He was a minister of Methodist Episcopal Church South in which he began ministry in 1937. He later was minister of the Methodist Church; then the United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Rotary Club. Dr. Robinson served churches in Worden, Madison, Cairo-Tigert, Carmi First, District Superintendent of Carbondale District, Marion First and Olney First.

Dr. Robinson is survived by his wife, Wanda Lee Robinson, of Olney; two daughters, Sandra Renshaw and her husband, Rev. Earl, of Murphysboro, and Rev. Sharon B. Potter, of Alton; a brother, R.E. Robinson, of Coos Bay, Ore.; four grandchildren, Lisa Cherry and her husband, Pastor Douglas, of Carbondale, Elizabeth Groh and her husband, Jeffrey, of Oklahoma City, Okla., Jay Potter, of Boston, Mass., and Andrea Otto and her husband, David, of Baltimore, Md.; 11 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and several-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Lowell, Olaf and Aubra, and a sister, Lodenia Schwab.
