Census (Scotland): 1861, age 26 Dunfermline Burgh, Fife with hubby & 1st child, hubby's occupation, General Draper, employing four boys.

Census (Scotland): 1871, age 36 Dunfermline, Fifeshire with hubby & six kids, hubby was a successful merchant.

Census (Scotland): 1881, age 46 Dunfermline, Fife with hubby, her mother, & six kids, he was a successful merchant.

Removed from Scotland to United States in 1893 following their two sons, with hubby reportedly operating a Ramsay Brothers Dry Good company store in Guthrie, Logan county, Oklahoma territory, at 210 west Oklahoma, owned by two of their sons, then returning to Pittsburg, Crawford county, Kansas to live out their lives at 406 west Euclid avenue.

Guthrie was the territorial and later the first state capital for Oklahoma. Guthrie is now nationally significant because of its outstanding collection of late nineteenth and early twentieth-century commercial architecture.

The Ramsay family was acquainted with Andrew Carneige while all were living in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland which reportedly lead to his helping son Robert with library in Guthrie, Logan county Oklahoma as part of his over $56 million to build 2,509 libraries throughout the English-speaking world, and only known community which he donated funds to purchase books.

She is found in Pittsburg, Crawford county, Kansas, town created by Moffett & Sargent, who established and laid out the site and then sold their holdings in 1880 to Pittsburg Town Company whose president was Charles Monroe Condon, historically, one of Kansas' most successful men of his day and son Albert's father-in-law.

The 1890 Young & Wassam's, Directory of City of Pittsburg has son's A A and R W listed with Martin & Ramsay store, Martin left and the sons operated the store, expanding their territory of stores.

1896 City Directory has her with hubby and with daughter Jesse A at 406 west Euclid avenue, Pittsburg, Crawford county, Kansas, hubby employed by their two son's in the Ramsay Bros dry goods, notions and millinery store at 320 north Broadway, Pittsburg's store being the sons first of many successful stores in Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Nebraska with Missouri corporate ending date of March 10, 1972, operated by four generations providing the public with quality goods and service for around an eighty (80) year period, ~ ~ including hubby, R W,senior. In later years all employees had a pension plan financed by the Ramsay company.

1901 City Directory has her with hubby, two daughters, Sarah F and Elizabeth L at 406 west Euclid avenue Pittsburg, Crawford county, Kansas, noting daughter Sarah F is a cashier with hubby also at Ramsay Bros store, son Arthur O being the only known child not noted in Pittsburg.

Death: in Pittsburg, Crawford county, Kansas the year before hubby.

Death of Mrs. Ramsay

Anna Kate, wife of Robert Ramsay, died today at 1:15 o'clock PM at the family residence on West Euclid Avenue, after an illness of several weeks from a complication of diseases.

The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from the family home, and will be conducted by Harold B. Wright of the Christian church of which she was a member. The remains will be interred in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
The deceased whose maiden name was Anna Kate Lushman, was born on May 8th, sixty-seven years ago, in Manchester, England but after her marriage with Mr. Ramsay, she lived with him in Dunermline, Scotland until 1893, when they emigrated to American and located in Pittsburg, KS., where two of their sons were engaged in business. She was the mother of eight children, five of whom with her husband survive her. They are Robert W., Albert A., Sarah Francis, Mrs. Hugh Lyle of St. Louis and Mrs. Longston of Independence, KS., all of whom were at her bedside in her last moments. She was a good woman with a Christian heart.
