Son of Earl R. Andersen and Lillie Greve Andersen.

Born on the family farm, southeast of Elk Horn. Baptized and confirmed in the Elk Horn Lutheran Church. He attended rural school in Clay Township and Elk Horn High School.

Eugene enlisted in the Air Corps 15 Sept. 1951. He took his basic training at Lackland Air Base, San Antonio, Texas and served at Ft. Warren, Cheyenne, Wyoming before going to Alaska. He was stationed at an Air base at Eilson, Alaska where he was a shipping clerk when he was killed from burns and suffocation. Rank A-3C

He was married to Peggy Turner and had one son, Danny Eugene.
