Alfred E. "Gene" Hawk,79,of 12057 Two Top Road,Mercersburg,died at 3:10 p.m.Friday,Feb. 11, 2000,in Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Sept. 16,1920,in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late James D. and Mary Nicklas Hawk.
Mr. Hawk attended Two Top Fellowship Church near Mercersburg.
A US. Naby veteran of World War II, he had worked as an electrician at DeRose Industries,Chambersburg, and later at Southern Cross of Mercersburg. He retired in 1981.
He was a member of Harry Lackhove Post 517 American Legion,Mercersburg. He enjoyed woodworking and music.
Srviving are his wife, Isabel L. Zeger Hawk,whom he married in 1941; a daughter, Mary L. (Mrs. Richard)Smith and a son,James M. "Bud" Hawk, both of Mercersburg;seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;a sister, Frances (Mrs. Warren)Crum of Okeechobee,Fla.; and two brothers,Dewey and Robert,both of Chambersburg. He was preceded in death by a son,a daughter and a grandson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Lininger-Fries Funeral Home,Inc.,47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Revs. Paul A. Martin and Roy E. Brake Sr. will officiate.
There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday in the funeral home.
