Jane was the daughter of Daniel & Sarah (Paul) Smith.

Jane married James Francis DeLong on Nov 23, 1881 in St. Martins Baptist Church, St. Martins, NB. They had the following children:

1. Anne Mildred DeLong b. 1888.
2. Rachel Calhoun DeLong b. 1889.

Mrs James DeLong - she and her sister Effie Smith, died a day apart- neither aware that the other was ill. In 1937 she suffered a hip injury and she had become bed confined from that time. She was born on her fathers homestead- now known as the Carey place on the Old Quaco Road. Her father did considerable farming also and possessed some valuable timber tracts for the various shipyards along the Bay Shore. She had occupied her home at Vaughan Creek for over fifty years. She recalled the wreck of the "Arcana" which went ashore at Quaco Reef, also the wreck of the Anna Currier and the subsequent rush of people to have part of her cargo.

Death Notice for Mrs James Delong shows daughter's Miss Annie M. DeLong and Mrs Harold J. Walter, at home; two grandchildren Cpl. Earl Walter, R.C.A.F., overseas and Miss Eloise Walter, Moncton; also one sister Miss Mary Smith, Boston, and one brother John Smith, East Acton, Mass. survive.
