Mrs. S. Starkenburg Rites At Alton Ref. Church August 19
Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Starkenburg, 78, who died Monday, August 16 at the Sioux Center hospital after six weeks illness, will be held Thursday, Aug. 19 at 1:30 p.m. in the Reformed Curch at Alton. Rev Greving will officiate and burial will be in the Orange City cemetery under the direction of Van Etten Funeral home.
Pallbearers will be six grandsons, Leo Starkenburg, Wm. Brower Jr., Vern Buchnan, Albert Mouw, Arnie Van Es and Marvin Zeutenhorst.
Catherine Van Laar was born Sept. 7, 1886 at Alton.
April 6, 1902 she was married to Sjoerd Starkenburg of Orange City. For the last sixteen years she has made her home in Bellflower, Cal.
Survivors include three sons: Garett of Bellflower, William and Fred of Alton; three daughters: Mrs. Ollie Brower of Worthington, Minn., Mrs. Emmett Root and Mrs. Walter Baas of Bellflower; 26 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Starkenburg was preceded in death by her husband and one son.
