Son of Moses L. and Rebecca D. (Rich) Bolster.
Moses was a paper hanger by trade.

On 13 Sep 1861, he enlisted as a private in Co. H, 25th Massachusetts Infantry, and served until 20 Oct 1864.

Note: although the application for military headstone mistakenly gives his year of death as 1865, the records from the Soldiers' Home in ME and the vital records are clear about 1875.
