Funeral services for Joel Louis Lloyd, age 30, of Nacogdoches, Texas are scheduled for 10am Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Don Copeland officiating.
Interment will be in Lynches Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home of Rusk, Texas.
Mr. Lloyd died Saturday, October 6, 2012 in a Tyler Hospital.
He was born June 24, 1982 in Nacogdoches.
Mr. Lloyd was a lifelong resident of Nacogdoches and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Nacogdoches. He was involved in the Martinsville Baptist Church youth program and was a great father.
Mr. Lloyd was involved in a car accident on Thanksgiving Day, 2010 and fought a long and hard battle to the end.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Louis Tackett, Joe Earl "Joker" Lloyd, grandparents, Charles and Virginia Lawson, uncle, Kenneth Earl Lloyd, great-grandmother, Bessie Wallace Lloyd and aunt, Sandy McCord.
Survivors include his son and best friend, Mason Charles Lloyd of Hemphill, Texas, daughter, Kallie Smith of Colorado, parents, Larry and Kay Lloyd of Rusk and Randy and Linda Lawson of Nacogdoches, sisters, Leslie Lloyd of Grapevine, Brandi DeGeer of Nacogdoches, grandmothers, Marie Lloyd of Rusk and Jessie Fay Tackett of Nacogdoches, step-sisters, Dawn Towns of Katy and Laura Perez of Needville, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers will include Kenny Birdwell, Dale Wallace, Justin Wallace, David Beard, Kirby Smith, Michael Lloyd, Andy Huddleston and Daryl McAnally.
Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Hudson, Tony Garner, Danny Woodruff, Patrick Rosson and Brandon Scarborough.
