Funeral services were Monday, November 13, at First Lutheran Church in Blair for Emma Marie Buchardt Erikson, who died November 10, 1989, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. Burial was in the Herman Cemetery.

Emma Marie Buchardt Erikson was born near Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, on March 12, 1901, to William and Sine Christiansen Buchardt. On September 14, 1921, she married Carl J. Erikson of Herman. To this union one daughter was born.

The couple farmed near Herman and Craig until Mr. Erikson died in 1955.

In 1956, Emma moved to Blair and started working as head cook at the new Blair Hospital. She worked faithfully at this job for 22 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents, a step-father and three brothers.

She is survived by her daughter, three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a niece, and her two sons; and six great-grandchildren, all of Sioux City, Iowa; many other nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
