Funeral services for Kathleen Ebel, age 89 of Brunswick, Nebraska, will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton, Nebraska. Reverend Jeff Lorig will officiate, with burial in the St. Ludger Catholic Cemetery in Creighton.
Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the funeral home in Creighton.
Kathleen passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012, surrounded by her family at the Avera Creighton Care Centre in Creighton, Nebraska.
Kathleen Ebel, daughter of Jimmy and Maudie (King) Hilderbrand, was born December 20, 1922, at Pittsburg, Kansas. Kathleen attended rural school near the family home in Kansas. After receiving her education, Kathleen was married to Theodore Dover in Kansas. The couple was blessed with two sons: Ted and Larry. In 1948, Kathleen was married to Dennis Ebel, and they were blessed with one daughter, Susan. Besides living in Kansas in her early life, Kathleen also resided in California, where she worked in an Army munitions plant, and later moved to Brunswick, Nebraska in 1953, where she farmed with Dennis the rest of their lives. Kathleen was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Brunswick. She passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012, surrounded by her family, at the Avera Creighton Care Centre in Creighton, Nebraska.
Kathleen is survived by her son, Teddy K. (Mary) Dover of Brunswick, Nebraska ((and Mary's daughter, Jackie Holman (friend Tom Kiecker of North Dakota), daughters, Shelby Kocian and Shayla Zimmerer, and son, Lyle Spilger)) ; daughter, Sue (Donnie) Bebout of Thurman, Iowa; granddaughters, Heather Combs (husband Jonathan and their daughter, Skylan), Nichole Hines, Chris (Robert) Dover of Oakland, California, and Cathy (Scott) Gerdes of Sioux Falls, South Dakota (and Scott's sons, T.J. and Matt Gerdes, and Cathy and Scott's son, Jessie Gerdes, all of South Dakota); grandsons, Tim (Stacy) Dover of Fairfield, California, and Steve Dover of Brunswick, Nebraska; and a daughter-in-law, Betty Dover of San Pablo, California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Ebel; and son, Larry Dover.
