Fannie' s birth certificate states that she was born in July of 1896 at 1816 E. Huntingdon Street in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Her Father and Mother are listed as John and Fannie McGowan. John's occupation is listed as a weaver.

The 1900 Philadelphia Pennsylvania Census states that Fannie was born in July of 1895, and her age is written as 4. This is not consistent with her birth date of July of 1896 which I obtained in her birth certificate. Fannie was listed as being born in Pennsylvania and her parents as being born in Ireland. She was living with her Father John, Mother Fannie, Brothers Joseph, Hugh, Howard and Robert and Sisters Mamie (Mary) and Lydia. All of Fannie's siblings listed here were born in Pennsylvania. Fannie's second oldest brother John had moved out of the house.

The 1910 Philadelphia Pennsylvania Census states that Fannie was 13 years old. Her age is consistent with the 1900 census entry, but not consistent with her birth certificate. Fannie was listed as being born in Pennsylvania and her parents as being born in Ireland. Fannie was able to read, write and speak English. Fannie was attending school at the time of the census. Fannie and William E. Woodward filed for a marriage license on June 11, 1915. On June 23rd, 1915 they were married. Fannie was either 18 or 19 at the time depending on if she was born in 1895 or 1896. Fannie's birth date is listed as July 13, 1896 on her marriage certificate. The marriage certificate also states her address as 1816 E. Huntingdon Street in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Fannie's occupation is listed as a mill hand. Her parents John and Fannie McCormick McGowan lived at the same address. Fannie's Father John is listed as having no occupation at the time of her marriage. Fannie's Mother is listed as being a housekeeper. Both of Fannie's parents are listed as being born in Ireland.

The 1920 Census states that Fannie was 23 years old and married. However, her husband William is nowhere to be found. Fannie was listed as being born in Pennsylvania. Her Mother and Father were listed as being born in Ireland. Fannie's occupation was listed as none. Fannie was able to read, write and speak English. Fannie lived with her Mother Fannie, Bother John and Sister "Lisa". Fannie didn't have a Sister named Lisa, however she did have a Sister named Lydia. I'm assuming that is who this is. Fannie's children Lois and Howard were mere toddlers.

Some time between 1920 and 1927, Fannie and William Woodward were divorced. Fannie remarried in 1927 to a man named Nathaniel Murphy - "Pop Murphy" as my grandmother Fannie Lois Woodward used to call her step father. I found Fannie and Nathan listed in the Philadelphia Marriage License Index.

In August of 1929, Fannie and her husband of two years, Nathaniel Murphy, travelled to Ireland. I found the two of them within a ship manifest located at the Ellis Island website. The ship was the S.S. Transylvania and they left Londonderry Ireland on August 3, 1929 and arrived back at the port of New York on August 11, 1929.

In April of 1935, Fannie was living in the same place. Fannie's occupation was listed as housework. Fannie lived with her second Husband Nathaniel Murphy. Fannie was renting her home for $27.50 per month at A 12 Mt. Bristol, Philadelphia Pennsylvania.

In 1940, Fannie's second Husband Nathaniel Murphy passed away. Fannie married a third time to a man named Charles Gray. In 1946, Fannie passed away from congestive heart failure according to her death certificate. However, her daughter Fannie Lois Woodward McCurdy Parks told her daughter that her Mother had passed away from problems with her kidneys.
