RINGGOLD, GA - John "Al" Alton Holsomback, 92, passed away Friday October 5, 2012 at his residence.

A lifelong resident of the North Georgia area, he was a Veteran of the U.S. Army where he served during W.W. II, former owner and operator of White Oak Wood Works and a member of Ringgold First Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Grover Cline and Bertha Lou Pettit Holsomback; brother, Gaston Holsomback and two sisters, Ruth Worley and Jean Davis.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gladys Chapman Holsomback, of Ringgold, GA; daughter, Donna (Randy) Cochran, of Ringgold, GA; son, Mike (Connie) Holsomback, of Fort Oglethorpe, GA; four grandchildren, Reagan Cochran, Brynn Boran, Will Cochran and Jonathan Shattuck, great grandson, Matthew Shattuck; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2012 at Anderson Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home Wallis-Stewart Chapel Ringgold, GA.
