Here they raised sugar beets, corn, alfalfa and potatoes; there was work for the whole family. The depression didn't seem so bad on irrigated land.
After 5 years on the farm, they moved into town and Archie worked for V.B Williams Distributing Co. The last thirteen years of his life, he was employed at the Scottsbluff Elks club. He loved to hunt and fish and often provided meat for the family in this way. He died while fishing at Lake Minatare.
