Mary moved, with her three children, Millard, William and John to Montgomery County Missouri later the same year. Joseph's brother, George and family were in the same township, and the 1870 census shows them living in his household.

Millard married Estella Dryden on September 19, 1883. They had five children, Mabel, Harrison, Lilburn, Omar and Estella. He was widowed September 8 1898.
Millard was a mail carrier in High Hill, Missouri for many years. He spent some time living with his son, Omar and family, in Southern California in the 1930's.
