Metter - Mr. Kermit Bird, 75, died Sunday at Candler County Hospital.
The Candler County native and lifelong resident of the Aline Community was a retired farmer and a member of the Metter Primitive Baptist Church. Kermit loved his family and his church family. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dianne Bird and a grandson, Mark Vanzant.
He is survived by two sons, Kerry and Robert Bird both of Metter; three daughters, Barbara Jean Gray of Albany, Kathy Spivey of Statesboro, and Nora Lee Powell of Metter; a brother, W.M. "Buddy" Bird of Metter; two sisters, Jeanette "Jack" Glass of Jesup and Valerie DeLoach of Claxton; the mother of his children, Elsie Juanita Norris of Metter; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with burial in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00-8:00 p., at the funeral home.
