Enoch left Kingston, MO with his family, and traveled by covered wagon to Oregon. They stayed awhile in Oklahoma and Kansas. While in Oregon, they had their fourth child. In 1885, they moved to Lewis County, settling in Harmony, WA. Later they moved to Bremer Valley and bought land for $1.25 an acre. Enoch was Civil War veteran.
Enoch's parents are David D. Casto born July 25, 1820 in Jackson, Amelia County, VA. and passed way on January 4, 1899 in Caldwell, Missouri. His mother is Rachel Boice born on November 12, 1825 in Jackson, Amelia Co., Virginia and died on November 9, 1901 in Caldwell, Missouri.

"Morton Pioneer Dies"

Enoch S. Casto, 75 years, pioneer of the upper Cowlitz valley and veteran of the Civil war, died in Morton Sunday morning. Casto was born in West Virginia, July 17, 1846, at the age of two years his parents moved to Missouri, where he lived until the outbreak of the Civil war. Not being old enough to enlist in the regular army, he joined the militia, in which he served until old enough to become a regular, then served in the federal army until the close of the war.

In 1870 Mr. Casto married Barbara E. Ryerson, who survives him. In 1885 the Castos left Missouri by covered wagon, crossing the plains and settling at Bremer, Lewis county, Washington, where they lived 27 years, since which time they have made their home in Morton.

Mr. Casto is survived by his widow and three daughters, Mrs. Mary Randle of Tacoma, Mrs. Pearl Cooper of Morton and Mrs. Viola Parnel of Bremer. The funeral services will be held Tuesday at the Morton Methodist church, Rev. T. C. Cooks officiating.
