For Forty-five Years He Was a Member of the First Baptist Church - Funeral Services Monday Afternoon.
Benjamin Reece, who has been ill for several weeks, died this morning at 8:10 o'clock at his home in West Broadway.
Deceased at the time of death was sixty-eight, four months and fifteen days old.
Mr. Reece was born in Hendricks Township, was the son of the late Rev. John Reece.
All his life was spent in Johnson and Shelby Counties.
Mr. Reece was united in marriage to Miss Anna Tennant on December 26, 1865, and to this union was born two children, Ernest Reece and Mrs. Frank Glessner, both of this city. The widow and children, together with one brother, William Reece, survive him.
Deceased was a soldier in the civil war, being a member of the Forty-Second Indiana Volunteers.
Most of his life was spent on a farm and when he had accumulated considerable wealth he moved to this city, having resided here for the past ten years.
Forty-five years ago Mr. Reece united with the First Baptist Church of this city. He was a firm believer in this faith and followed the teachings of the Baptist doctrine as closely as possible.
Mr. Reece was a good man. He was always found trying to do good unto others and he had made many persons happy by the assistance given them.
The funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. O.A. Cook officiating.
Interment will be made in Forest Hill Cemetery in charge of Stewart & Fix.
