When Louise was 3 years old, the family moved to Ottumwa, Iowa in Wapello County in 1892, where her father would help to establish the first Ottumwa City Hospital.
Louise's maternal grandparents also moved into the house next door to the family, and there was an enclosed walkway between the houses so the family members could go back and forth. Her Grandpa Mallory was an invalid from the Civil War.
Louise was 18 years old when her mother died in 1908 after a long illness. Her oldest sister, Helen, took over the care of the younger family members when their father remarried in 1910.
In 1920 she was the Matron/Directoress of Bowman Hall on the campus of Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa.
By 1930 Louise had moved to Georgia to join two of her sisters and a brother-in-law on their peach farm. After her sister, Ruth, died in 1937, Louise stayed on at the farm to help her brother-in-law, Carl Roy.
Louise died back in Ottumwa in 1957 at the age of 68 and is buried with the rest of her family.
