Funeral rites for August Dickman, 88, lifelong resident of Bradford, were held Saturday morning
at the St. John's Catholic Church here. He died early Thursday morning in St. Francis hospital, Kewanee, where he was a patient one week.
Mr. Dickman was a Ford dealer in Bradford many years, the firm being known as Sharkey and Dickman.
The son of Frederick and Augusta Tilson Dickman, he was born on a farm north of Bradford Dec. 25, 1870. Solemn Requiem High Mass was celebrated by a brother, the Rev. F. B. Dickman, Kewanee, retired pastor of the St. Joseph's Church of Kewanee. The deacon was the Rev. Bernard McKean, OSB, a nephew, and sub deacon was the Rev. Robert Prendergast of the St.
Francis Hospital, Kewanee. The sermon was preached by the Rt. Rev. Msger. Thomas Cleary,
pastor of the St. John's Church. Father Bernard McKean officiated at the service at St. John's Cemetery. The bearers, all nephews, were James O'Brien and Francis O'Brien of Dixon, Daniel O'Brien of Camp Grove, Richard Heinzmann of Metamora, Daniel McKean of Bradford and James McKean of Decatur. Mr. Dickman Is survived by two sisters, Mrs. T. J. Barry of Bradford
and Mrs. James O'Brien of Dixon; two brothers, Frederick Dickman of Manteca, Calif., and
Rev. F. B. Dickman of Kewanee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann, three brothers, Richard, Joseph and Bernard, and two sisters, Misses Emma and Clara Dlckman, of Kewanee.
