Dennis Leo McCarthy, 60, of Ft. Madison, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 3:12 a.m. at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, IA. He was born on May 16, 1952 in St. Paul, MN to Leo C. & Rosalyn O. Neska McCarthy. He married Cynthia A. Schreiner on July 29, 1972 in South St. Paul, MN. He worked for the City of Fort Madison in the streets department for 28 years, retiring on May 18, 2012. He was a member of the Fort Madison Moose Lodge and Eagles Lodge and loved boating, camping, Nascar and spending time with his family.
Dennis is survived by: his wife: Cynthia McCarthy of Fort Madison, IA; 2-daughters: Suzette (Ron) Miesner of Des Moines, IA & Heidi (Mark) Allen of Altoona, IA; 3-grandchildren: Anthony Miesner of Des Moines, IA, Emily & Chase Allen both of Altoona, IA; 1-great grandson: Michael Miesner of Des Moines, IA; 1-brother: Jack McCarthy of Wisconsin & 1-sister: Lori Anderson of Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents & 1-daughter: Margaret.
Per his wishes, his body will be cremated following the visitation. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa.
