Dixie Hines Smith, 63, of Amarillo died Sunday, February 22, 2004.

Services were in First Methodist church of Miami with the Rev. Steve Patterson, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Friona, and the Rev. Don Kinder, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Miami Cemetery in Miami by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.

Mrs. Smith was born May 7, 1940, in Borger. She was a 1958 graduate of Canadian High School. She had been a resident of Miami from 1942 until he moved to Amarillo in 2002 She married Joe Smith on April 4, 1992, in Miami. She was the business manager for Miami Independent School District from 1975 until retiring in 2002. She was a member of First Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raburn and Ruby Hines, and a son, Steve Helton in 1986.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Kathy Liedtke and husband, Doug, and Charisse Topper, all of Amarillo , and Karin Kohler of Winslow, Arizona; a son, Garrett Helton and wife, Dee Ann, of Guymon, Oklahoma; a brother, Bill Hines and wife, Betty, of Vilas, Colorado; and eight grandchildren, Tonya Henson of Pampa, Cassie Lemons, Tanner Lemons, Hope Bonner Smith and Tyson Liedtke, all of Amarillo, Bea Drinnon of Elk City, Oklahoma, and Seth Kohler and Kari Kohler, both of Winslow.
