"Ann Schemerhorn, the wife of Burton Ackley of Oneonta, died at her home in that city, Tuesday afternoon, about 2 o'clock. Mrs. Ackley had been ill for about four weeks and her death was not unexpected. Mrs. Ackley was born in the town of Milford, the daughter of Nichols and Betsey Schemerhorn, and was united in marriage about thirty-six years ago with Mr. Ackley and removed to Oneonta soon after the marriage. Since then she has been a resident of that city. She was sixty years of age. She was a member of the Free Baptist church and for twenty-six years was a teacher in that Sunday school, and at the time of her death, was the president of the Fidelity class. She was also for many years the president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Y. M. C. A. and was a woman of high Christian ideals and was held high in the respect and honor of all who knew her. Mrs. Ackley is survived by her husband and two brothers, George Schemerhorn of Waukegan, Ill., and Hiram, of North Franklin. The funeral will be held from her late home, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, her pastor, the Rev. C. S. Pendleton of the Free Baptist church, officiating. The interment will be made in the Riverside cemetery.---Oneonta Star." ["The Otsego Farmer" (Cooperstown, NY), Oct. 29, 1909]
